BrokerageBox is a free platform built for independent real estate brokerages. Our platform brings together two powerful dimensions: Technology and Recruiting.
On the technology side, we provide a free, fully integrated, back-end system for real estate brokerage management, including Transaction Management, Commission Management, Billing & Payment Solutions, and more.
On the recruiting side, we help accelerate your brokerage’s growth by connecting you with qualified New and Experienced agents through our education pipeline and brokerage advertising.
Together, these features create a complete ecosystem designed to help independent offices to streamline operations, scale efficiently, and strengthen their referral networks.

We are on a mission to promote independence in real estate and revolutionize how real estate agents get paid. Our initial product offering is completely-free, with the exception of pass through banking fees for direct deposits.

Mission and Vision Statements
Independent brokerages are the heart and soul of the real estate industry. The home buyer benefits from a local business with local real estate knowledge. In the modern world, multinational franchises do nothing but scrape commissions from your local experts. What if there was something better?
Our mission is to revolutionize the real estate industry by creating a paradigm shift away from agents working for the outdated and expensive franchise model to starting their own brokerage using our platform and technology. We provide a straightforward pathway for agents to build equity in their own real estate brokerage business.

Meet the Team
Tim Horst
Co-founder & CEO
Tim started his real estate career as a licensed agent in 1991. After 18 years working for other large franchise real estate companies, he started Summa Real Estate Group in 2009. He quickly learned that there were few options for new startup real estate companies. He had to cobble together several expensive third party tools just to operate with efficiency. Out of this frustration, he hired Andrew Helenius to build a backend system for Summa. This led to the creation of BrokerageBox, a white labeled system dedicated to helping independent offices.
Andrew Helenius
Co-founder & CTO
Andrew is a software engineer from Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Portland State University with a degree in Computer Science, and now with over ten years of experience in the industry he has shifted his focus to entrepreneurial pursuits, joining Tim on building BrokerageBox. He has a passion for building complex systems with an emphasis on usability and reliability, especially in backend systems. Outside of work you can catch him running, hiking, or chilling with his cat!
Josh Horst
Marketing and Sales Director
Josh began his career as a mechatronic engineer for solar measurement devices in Austin, Texas. He quickly transitioned from product design to product management and sales engineering, with accounts spanning six continents. Josh has dual bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Colorado in aerospace engineering and business administration. His experiences in entrepreneurship include co-founding a clothing company Esoteric Outfitters, and self-managing a short-term rental in south Austin. Besides his career, Josh enjoys traveling, exploring nature, learning new skills, and craft beer or coffee on the weekends.
Stephan Mays
Branding & Design
From humble beginnings of dragging a 40 pound iMac to and from high school in order to print large Photoshop files, to explorative self-taught graphic design and layout skills, Stephan has been continually finding himself around design, branding and user interface for as long as he has been using a trusty Macintosh. Formal work history includes nearly a decade at an Apple retailer and service center honing skills in logistics and distribution, online sales, customer service and support, as well as hardware and software service and technical support. He also boasts an additional decade of experience in the real estate industry, including being a licensed and practicing Residential Realtor, and most recently serving in a dedicated mixed-discipline team support and design role for Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world leading commercial real estate brokerages.
Sadie Villicana
Customer Service
Sadie Villicana is a dedicated professional with extensive experience across various roles, including Transaction Coordinator at Summa Real Estate Group, where she excels in contract management and client relations. With a strong background in real estate transactions and compliance with legal regulations, Sadie ensures seamless processes between buyers, sellers, agents, and lenders. Previously, she served as an Escrow Assistant, managing detailed tasks and facilitating successful closings. Her career also includes roles at Washington County Circuit Court and Child Care Aware, showcasing her versatile administrative and customer service skills. She has a proven track record of supporting teams with efficiency and attention to detail. Sadie is known for her organizational prowess, communication finesse, and a proactive approach to achieving business objectives.
